From Downtown on Canvas Reading

It was a warm, sunny day with a cool breeze blowing in West Branch. Mid Michigan Writers, Inc. was set up between the Fresh Squeezed Lemonade stand and the Ice Cream vendor. The sun at our backs made for easy reading and everyone did a great job. The only thing we could have asked for would have been more people. We gave a rousing performance to an empty house. Well, it was good practice for future readings. And the ice cream was excellent. Hopefully we'll be better attended next year.

Laura read "The Guys" from A Mixing Bowl of Words and Recipes.

Ty read "Bachelor Hack" from Uneven Terrain and "Life Boat" from A Mixing Bowl of Words and Recipes.

Veronica read "Snowflakes" and "Why Do Cherry Blossoms Bloom" from A Mixing Bowl of Words and Recipes.

Lucas (formerly our newest member) read a piece by Lenore Troia called "The Elusive Black Dog" from A Mixing Bowl of Words and Recipes.

Chris read "Exploring on the First Island Trip" and "Grandma's Cookies" from A Mixing Bowl of Words and Recipes. Also, "Oceans Edge" and "Tennis and Twilight" from Uneven Terrain.

Nancy Renko read "Playing for Keeps" from A Mixing Bowl of Words and Recipes.

"Who's next?"

That lemonade puts the pucker in your lips.

A group of local musicians playing sweet tunes. I don't know what instrument that woman and man are playing. I had to get back and read my piece before I could ask.

Hand tooled leather belts.

Pucker up with some fresh squeezed Lemonade.

Special ice cream of the day "Michigan Pot Holes". Delicious.
